We are looking for a passionate and values-driven PBS Practitioner to join our growing children’s residential and adult supported living services. This is an exciting opportunity to make a genuine difference in the lives of people with autism, learning disabilities, trauma backgrounds, and mental health needs.
You will play a key role in improving quality of life, reducing restrictive practices, supporting teams through coaching, and embedding a proactive, person-centred PBS culture across our services.
About the Role
As a PBS Practitioner, you will work closely with registered managers, support teams, families, and multidisciplinary professionals to develop and implement effective Positive Behaviour Support strategies.
You will support both:
- Children in residential care settings
- Adults in supported living environments
The role combines direct clinical-style support, staff coaching, behavioural analysis, training delivery, and quality assurance.
Key Responsibilities
- Complete functional behaviour assessments
- Develop and review PBS plans and risk assessments
- Support reduction of incidents, restraints, and restrictive practices
- Coach and mentor staff teams in trauma-informed and PBS approaches
- Analyse incident data and identify behavioural trends
- Deliver PBS training and reflective practice sessions
- Attend MDT meetings, professionals meetings, and reviews
- Support managers with Ofsted/CQC quality standards
- Promote person-centred approaches and quality of life outcomes
- Support debriefs following incidents and develop learning actions
- Ensure services operate in line with BILD, Ofsted, and CQC guidance
What We’re Looking For
Essential:
- Experience working within:
- Children’s residential care, supported living, or specialist education
- Autism, learning disabilities, trauma, mental health, or behaviours of concern
- Knowledge of Positive Behaviour Support principles
- Strong understanding of safeguarding and restrictive practice reduction
- Ability to build positive relationships with staff and people we support
- Excellent communication and report-writing skills
- Full UK driving licence
Desirable:
- Level 4 or above qualification in PBS, Psychology, Health & Social Care, or related field
- Experience delivering training/coaching
- Understanding of Ofsted and/or CQC frameworks
- CPI training knowledge
- Experience supporting forensic, SEMH, or CCE-linked presentations
