Job Description: Head Chef – Doncaster
Full-Time, Permanent, Competitive Salary (DOE)
Treo Recruitment are working with a well-known, established restaurant in Doncaster to recruit an experienced and commercially astute Head Chef to lead their kitchen operations.
This is a senior leadership opportunity within a busy, quality-led restaurant, offering the chance to shape the culinary direction while driving operational excellence and team performance.
The Role
As Head Chef, you will take full responsibility for the kitchen’s culinary output, financial performance, and team leadership. You will be passionate about authentic Italian cuisine, confident in managing high-performing teams, and commercially aware in a fast-paced hospitality environment.
Key Responsibilities
Culinary Leadership
- Lead the design, development, and execution of seasonal menus rooted in authentic Italian cuisine
- Maintain exceptional food quality, presentation, and consistency
- Ensure all dishes meet brand standards and customer expectations
- Oversee daily kitchen operations and service performance
Operational Management
- Full responsibility for kitchen P&L performance
- Manage food cost percentages in line with agreed targets
- Implement robust stock control, ordering, and supplier management processes
- Minimise waste through effective forecasting and portion control
- Ensure compliance with all food safety, hygiene, and allergen regulations
Team Leadership & Development
- Recruit, train, and develop kitchen team members
- Set clear performance expectations and lead by example
- Create a positive, disciplined, and professional kitchen culture
- Manage rotas effectively to balance labour cost with operational needs
Compliance & Standards
- Maintain 5-star hygiene standards (or equivalent local authority rating)
- Ensure full adherence to HACCP procedures
- Lead health and safety compliance within the kitchen
- Conduct regular audits and maintain accurate documentation
Candidate ProfileEssential Experience
- Proven experience as Head Chef or Senior Sous Chef within a quality-led Italian restaurant
- Strong background in fresh food preparation and authentic Italian cuisine
- Demonstrable experience managing kitchen P&L and food cost control
- Experience leading and developing kitchen teams
- Mid-level banqueting experience essential

Qualifications
- Level 3 Food Safety & Hygiene (or equivalent)
