Civils Groundworks Operative / Foreman

About the Company

Our client specialises in engineered base works and external installations for the fire suppression and industrial construction sectors. Working on projects up to £2 million, they deliver technically precise, high-quality civil engineering solutions that support large-scale commercial and industrial sites.

Due to continued growth, they are looking for skilled Civils Groundworkers / Foremen to join their close-knit team and take a lead in delivering complex groundwork and concrete base projects across the UK.

The Role

This role is hands-on and technically focused, requiring a strong understanding of site setup, excavation, and formwork. You’ll work as part of a small, experienced team to deliver precision civils works including:

• Setting out and excavating to engineered drawings and laser levels
• Installing pile mats, sub-bases and reinforced concrete foundations
• Formwork, steel reinforcement and finishing concrete to tight tolerances
• Retaining walls, tank bases, and trenching for utilities
• Operating plant safely and efficiently
• Working with the team to ensure deadlines, quality, and safety standards are achieved

About You

You’ll be a competent groundworker or foreman with solid experience in delivering detailed civils works to engineered specifications.

Essential Experience & Skills

• Proven background in groundworks, excavation, and concrete work
• Ability to set out, read drawings and work to precise levels
• Excavator, Dumper and Roller tickets
• Strong awareness of site safety and compliance
• Full UK driving licence

Desirable

• Experience leading small civils gangs or teams
• Confined Spaces or SSSTS certification
• Experience in retaining walls and reinforced concrete bases
