Residential Children’s Care Worker

Location: Derby (Mickleover / Littleover)
Salary: £31,440 – £34,060.80 OTE (inclusive of sleep-ins)
Bonus: £1,000 sign-on fee
Hours: 40 per week (alternate week shift pattern, includes sleep-ins/on-call)
Contract: Full-time, Permanent

The Role

As a Residential Children’s Care Worker, you will play a vital role in supporting children aged 10–18 with emotional and behavioural difficulties (EBD). This includes:

• Providing day-to-day emotional and practical support.
• Building strong, positive relationships to help children develop confidence and social skills.
• Supporting with education, leisure activities, and life skills.
• Implementing personalised care plans.
• Promoting independence while maintaining a safe, nurturing environment.
• Working closely with colleagues to ensure high-quality care and consistency.

About You

Essential:

• NVQ/QCF Level 3 or 4 in Children & Young People’s Workforce (or equivalent).
• At least 1 year’s experience in residential childcare.
• Full UK driving licence.
• Compassionate, resilient, and committed to supporting vulnerable young people.

Desirable:

• GCSEs or equivalent qualifications.
• Previous experience supporting young people with EBD.
• Ability to work flexibly, including weekends and sleep-ins.
